Simba SC continued to send a strong message in the CAF Champions League after thrashing Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers 6-1 in the second leg played at Uhuru Stadium.
The victory saw Simba advance with a 7-1 aggregate win, following their 1-0 victory in the first leg.
Simba started the match at a high tempo, making it clear from the outset that they were determined to finish the job in front of their home supporters. Just eight minutes in, Clatous Chama opened the scoring for Simba after a fine combination with Anicet Oura.
Chama Turns on the Heat
The match continued to be one-sided, with Simba dominating the midfield and creating chances regularly in front of the Mighty Wanderers goal.
Chama was in outstanding form, scoring twice in the first half, while Libasse Gueye added another to send Simba into the break with a 3-1 lead.
Simba continued at the same pace after the restart, with Mighty Wanderers struggling to cope with the hosts’ attacks.
Libasse Gueye scored his second goal of the match to make it 4-1, before Keletso Makgalwa, who came on for Anicet Oura, scored Simba’s fifth in the 87th minute.
Simba were not finished there. In the dying moments, Morice Abraham put the final nail in the coffin with a sixth goal to complete the emphatic 6-1 victory.
Simba Send Message to Africa
It was an impressive performance from Simba, who demonstrated quality, pace and a strong ability to capitalize on their chances.
The victory also sent a message to their opponents that Simba have entered this season’s CAF Champions League with serious ambitions of going further and challenging for the latter stages of the competition.
With a 7-1 aggregate victory, the Reds of Msimbazi have advanced in emphatic fashion, and all eyes now turn to the next stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
