Midfielder Clatous Chama continued his impressive form in the CAF Champions League yesterday, leading the Reds of Msimbazi to a 6-1 victory over Mighty Wanderers at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
In a match that saw Simba send a strong message to their opponents in this season’s Champions League, securing a 7-1 aggregate victory across the two legs, Chama scored twice.
Those goals extended Chama’s impressive record in the competition, moving him up to fifth place among the CAF Champions League’s all-time leading scorers.
Chama has now scored 24 goals, seven behind all-time top scorer Mohamed Aboutrika, who finished with 31.
Of those goals, 19 have come during his time with Simba, three were scored for Yanga, and two came while he was playing for Zambian club Zesco United.
Simba SC has been the club where Chama has enjoyed the greatest scoring success. During his time with the Reds of Msimbazi, the "Lusaka Rock" has scored 19 goals. Among his most memorable goals for Simba are his late strikes that helped the club reach the quarter-finals, including goals against Nkana FC and AS Vita Club in the 2018/19 and 2020/21 seasons respectively.
Since returning to Simba, Chama has continued his fine form, scoring a brace yesterday in their emphatic 6-1 victory over Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers.
