If there are words that can describe Clatous Chota Chama’s form in these early days of the 2026/27 season, there is only one: BORN AGAIN!
The Zambian attacking midfielder, widely known as Triple C and the Rock of Lusaka, has started the new season at full speed, once again showcasing the quality that has made him one of the most memorable players in Tanzanian football.
Chama has not only returned to Simba SC, but appears to have come back with a renewed hunger to write another chapter of history while wearing the Reds of Msimbazi jersey.
Yesterday, in the Mzizima Derby played at Azam Complex in Chamazi, Simba SC secured a 2-0 victory over Azam FC.
The match was highly competitive, but Simba showed composure and discipline, particularly in the second half.
After Simba took the lead through an own goal by an Azam FC defender, it was Chama’s turn to put his signature on the match.
Triple C scored Simba’s second goal, finishing off a Reds of Msimbazi attack to give his team a crucial 2-0 victory.
That goal was more than just another addition to the scoreboard; it was another message that Chama still has plenty to offer.
The 2026/27 season has started differently for Chama. In addition to his ability to create chances, provide final passes and link the midfield with the attack, he now appears to have an even greater hunger for goals.
In the NBC Premier League, Chama has now scored four goals, with his strike against Azam FC taking his tally to four this season.
That is a tally that puts him among the players who have made fast starts to the season in terms of goalscoring.
Africa Knows Chama Too
Chama has also started showing his quality in the CAF Champions League.
In Simba’s 6-1 victory over Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers the other day, Chama scored twice and helped Simba advance to the next round with a 7-1 aggregate victory.
Those two goals further extended Chama’s impressive record in African club competitions.
Chama has now scored 25 goals in African club competitions, moving further up the list of the competition’s leading goalscorers in history.
Experience Carries Chama
There comes a point in a player’s career when experience becomes a greater weapon than speed alone. That appears to be where Chama is now.
Rather than relying on strength or pace, he is increasingly using composure, football intelligence, positioning and his ability to read situations on the pitch.
Simba’s system gives him greater freedom to play, allowing him to express his creativity and move into areas where he can cause problems for opponents.
