After failing to sign attacking midfielder Feisal Salum ‘Fei Toto’ in the previous transfer window, Simba SC officials appear to have started a fresh plan to convince the star to move to Msimbazi.
Information from sources close to the Simba leadership indicates that the club has opened communication with Fei Toto’s camp, with the aim of persuading the player not to sign a new contract with his current club, Azam FC.
The reported plan could give Simba a better opportunity to sign the player in the next transfer window, particularly because his contract with Azam FC is set to expire at the end of the season.
According to the reports, Simba could take more formal steps in December, when Fei Toto will have approximately six months remaining on his contract.
Under those circumstances, the Reds of Msimbazi could have an opportunity to reach a pre-contract agreement with the player for him to join them after his current contract expires.
However, Simba could still attempt to sign him during the mid-season transfer window if Azam FC are willing to sell him.
If Azam reject any offers and Fei Toto remains with the club until the end of his contract, the player would be able to leave as a free agent once his contract expires.
TALKS IN ZANZIBAR?
Other reports from various sources indicate that talks involving the player’s representatives recently took place in Zanzibar.
Although the full details of those discussions have not been made public, what continues to attract attention is the way Simba appear unwilling to give up on their pursuit of Fei Toto.
The player was among the names strongly linked with Simba in the previous transfer window, with the club making efforts to bring him to Msimbazi.
AZAM FC STOOD FIRM
In the previous transfer window, Simba came close to signing Fei Toto, but the process was not completed after Azam FC maintained their position regarding the player’s valuation.
Simba needed to reach an agreement with Azam before the transfer could be completed, but the two sides failed to reach an understanding that would have facilitated the deal.
As a result, Fei Toto’s proposed move to Simba did not materialise, despite his name remaining among the most talked-about during the window.
JERSEYS BECAME PART OF THE DEAL TALK
As those efforts unfolded during the previous transfer window, there was also a campaign that sparked debate among Simba fans.
Jersey manufacturer JayRutty launched a sales campaign linked to the arrival of a player with “X-Factor” status, with the campaign being associated with the club’s reported pursuit of Fei Toto.
Although the player’s name was not officially mentioned in the campaign details, many believed that Fei Toto was the intended target.
Now, following the failure of the initial plan, Simba appear to be returning to the negotiating table with a different strategy.
