The KMC Complex pitch in Mwenge, Dar es Salaam, is set to host a major women’s football showdown today as Simba Queens and JKT Queens go head-to-head for the Women’s Community Shield.
The highly anticipated final is scheduled to kick off at 4:00 p.m., bringing together two of the biggest and most historic teams in Tanzanian women’s football.
Simba Queens reached the final in impressive fashion after thrashing traditional rivals Yanga Princess 3-0 in the semi-final.
Defending champions JKT Queens, meanwhile, booked their place in the final with a narrow 1-0 victory over Mashujaa Queens of Kigoma.
Battle for the Trophy and Redemption
Today’s final is not only about crowning this year’s champion but also adds another chapter to the historic rivalry since the competition was introduced in 2023.
Simba Queens were the inaugural Women’s Community Shield champions in 2023, but JKT Queens turned the tables by winning the trophy in consecutive years in 2024 and 2025. Simba Queens enter today’s final seeking to restore their pride and reclaim the trophy, while JKT Queens will be looking to defend their crown and keep hold of the title.
Both teams’ coaches have declared that their squads are fit and that their players are highly motivated to secure victory this evening.
For Simba Queens, victory would provide a strong start to the season as they aim to defend the Women’s Premier League title they won last season.
Before the two finalists take to the pitch, Yanga Princess and Mashujaa Queens will meet in the third-place playoff at 7:00 p.m. at the same venue.
