Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has admitted that his team did not deliver the expected level of performance in their 1-0 victory over Fountain Gate in yesterday's NBC Mainland Premier League match at Tanzanite Kwaraa Stadium.
However, Barker insisted that the most important thing was securing all three points and strengthening their position at the top of the NBC Mainland Premier League standings.
Speaking after the match, Barker revealed that fatigue from a demanding schedule of consecutive matches had affected his team. Nevertheless, he was pleased with the players' determination and commitment in protecting their lead.
"It was not a very good game for us. We were below our usual standard today, and I must admit that Fountain Gate gave us a tough challenge. However, in a title race, away matches like these are always difficult. The most important thing was to get the three points, and the boys fought until the final second to protect them," Barker said.
The victory keeps Simba SC at the top of the league standings with a five-point advantage, while extending their 100% winning record this season.
