Qatar Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe have submitted a bid to compete for the 20-time British champions
The British Association of Journalists said representatives of Sheikh Jassim were expected to arrive in Manchester on Thursday, while Ratcliffe was expected to attend a senior management presentation the following day.
Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim is aiming to take 100 per cent control of United and has attracted support from some fans by promising to cancel United's debt.
Boyhood United fan Ratcliffe's INEOS is looking to gain majority control by buying a stake in the Glazers.
No bid is understood to have met the current owners' reported price of £6 billion ($7.2 billion).
Elliott Investment Management has also made it to the next stage of the bidding process, although the US-based firm is said to be offering financing rather than buying the club
The Glazers have caused United huge debts and have also led to a decline in the status of the club
Last month's League Cup win at Wembley was their first title in six years. Ratcliffe, 70, already owns French Ligue 1 club Nice and Switzerland's FC Lausanne-Sport
