After the relegation, the Head Coach of Ruvu Shooting, Mbwana Makata has said that there is a 'chain' of various reasons that led the team to fail to perform well in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League which is close to the brink, it has been explained.
On May 12, this year, Ruvu Shooting was officially relegated when it conceded a 3-0 defeat against Simba, a match played at Azam Complex Stadium, Dar es Salaam, leaving it with 20 points.
The defeat sent the team out of the Premier League and into the Championship because even if they win the remaining two matches, they will only reach 26 points, which will have surpassed only one Tanzanian Police team.
Makata said the registration of players who do not have the required standards at the moment is the main reason why they are unable to keep up with the existing competition.
"Many things have caused the team to be relegated, including the registration at the beginning of the season. We made a mistake in signing, they signed players whose ability is not that great to play in the Premier League. These days the league has become very strong in Tanzania, you must have players with great potential, even few to face other teams"
"Many teams are currently signing high-quality players. You saw in the match against Simba, all the plans were correct, but what we were overwhelmed by was the level of individual players," said Makata.
He added that even during the small window period there was no registration fee, instead they registered one player (Valentino Mashaka), just so it was difficult to face some teams that have registered and invested in the best players.
