The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the eighth edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) will be held from February 1 to 28, 2025 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The announcement was made by CAF President Patrice Motsepe on Monday
CHAN tournament held every two years, which features only players from their countries
It will be the first time in East Africa to host a continental soccer tournament for national teams
It will also serve as a prelude to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be jointly hosted by the three countries
Motsepe visited the three national stadiums in Kenya earmarked for the event, noting that two are currently being renovated
He expressed his satisfaction with the commitment of the host nations, highlighting the opportunity to improve football infrastructure, attract visitors, and promote tourism
Qualifying matches are scheduled to start on October 25 and conclude in December
Senegal claimed victory in the previous CHAN tournament held in 2023, defeating hosts Algeria 5-4 in a penalty shootout in the final
Morocco and DR Congo are the most successful teams in CHAN history, each having won the title twice since the tournament's inception in 2009.
