Simba SC may be forced to make a tough decision regarding the future of their Cameroonian striker Lionel Ateba following the signing of Ghanaian international striker Jonathan Sowah, who joined from Singida Black Stars.
Sowah, who scored 13 goals in just 14 matches last season with Singida BS, now joins a foreign attacking lineup at Simba that includes Jonathan Sowah, Steven Mukwala, and Lionel Ateba.
According to sources within the club, Maghreb Fez from Morocco has already submitted an official offer to sign Ateba, and Simba may consider it as part of a strategy to restructure their attacking force.
It is reported that Simba head coach Fadlu Davids has already confirmed that Steven Mukwala is a key part of his plans for the upcoming season. Mukwala, who also scored 13 goals last season, ended the campaign in top form, leading Simba to reject all offers made for him.
On the other hand, despite having a strong season and also scoring 13 goals, Lionel Ateba appears to be the one likely to make way for the arrival of Sowah.
The fierce competition expected in Simba’s forward line could force the Cameroonian to seek more playing time outside the Msimbazi club.
