Central defender of Simba SC, Abdulrazack Hamza, is expected to be out for an extended period and may miss the rest of the season.
Hamza sustained an injury during the Community Shield match against Yanga on September 16 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, where Simba lost 1-0. He has not returned to the pitch since then.
After medical evaluation, Hamza was sent to Morocco for further treatment at the Zerktouni Clinic, where he underwent surgery on December 1 last year. Initially, there were hopes he could return early in the second half of the league, but circumstances have changed.
An internal club source stated that although his recovery is progressing well, doctors have recommended a longer rest and special care to ensure a full recovery before returning to the field.
“He is doing well at the moment, but medical procedures indicate he will not return to the pitch until the end of the season. The injury was more severe than initially thought,” the source said.
This season, Simba has faced challenges in defense, as they are also missing Wilson Nangu, who underwent ankle surgery in South Africa yesterday. Nangu was injured in the CAF Champions League match against Esperance at Mkapa Stadium, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Currently, the defensive line relies heavily on vice-captain Rushine de Reuck and new signing Ismail Toure, who was brought in during the transfer window.
