The NBC Premier League match between Azam FC and Yanga SC, played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, ended in a goalless draw.
It was a match filled with technical quality, but with few clear chances created by either side, largely due to the strong defensive discipline shown by both teams.
Azam FC started the game with high intensity and quickly tested Yanga’s goalkeeper Djigui Diarra, who was forced to make an early save to keep his team in the game.
However, the second half saw Yanga SC take greater control of the match, dominating possession for long periods. Their main challenge remained converting their attacking moves into clear scoring opportunities.
In the closing minutes, striker Prince Dube was brought down inside the penalty area, but the referee waved play on, ignoring the incident that might have given Yanga a chance to score from the spot.
The result means each team earns one point, with Yanga SC remaining at the top of the table with 36 points, while Azam FC move up to second place with 28 points.
