Former Liverpool FC coach, Jürgen Klopp, has strongly denied rumors linking him with a move to Real Madrid, insisting that there has never been any contact between him and the club.
“All the reports circulating are pure nonsense,” said Klopp. “They have never called me even once, nor has my agent ever received a call. As a joke, I’d even like to take over Atlético Madrid at some point. Sorry Madrid, you’ll have to call first.”
The former Liverpool coach also opened up about his life after stepping away from management, explaining that he has completely distanced himself from football and is enjoying a normal life away from the pitch.
“Since I left Liverpool, I didn’t even know when matches were being played; I had completely switched off,” he said. “I’ve been exercising, enjoying life, and spending a lot of time with my grandchildren… just very normal things, knowing that I won’t return to coaching.”
Klopp added that he currently has no plans to return to the touchline, noting that he doesn’t feel like he is missing coaching despite his vast experience in the game.
“I’m now 58 years old. If I were to start coaching again at 65, people would remind me that I once said I wouldn’t return. I could tell them that I truly meant it at the time,” he explained. “But honestly, I don’t feel like I’m missing anything by not being a coach.”
