The national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina has made history after defeating Italy for the very first time in an official competitive match, a victory that secured their qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
This historic win, achieved in Zenica, has brought great joy to Bosnian fans and marks a significant milestone for the nation in international football.
For Italy, the result means they once again miss out on a place in the World Cup after losing in a dramatic knockout final match.
Earlier, there was major confusion before the crucial game after the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team claimed to have caught a man suspected of being a spy from Italy during their final training session.
According to reports, the individual allegedly posed as a European Union officer while wearing a military-style jacket bearing the Italian football federation emblem. He was caught recording Bosnia’s tactical training from a restricted area. It is said he had a phone strapped to his chest to capture the team’s strategies. He was immediately removed from the area, although it remains unclear how much information he had already gathered or whether he had been officially sent by Italian authorities.
