Serengeti Boys Face Senegal in Historic AFCON U-17 Final

Football fans across Tanzania and Africa will turn their attention to Rabat, Morocco, today as Tanzania's Serengeti Boys take on Senegal in the final of the 2026 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The historic match will be played at Moulay El Hassan Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 10:00 PM Tanzania time.

Tanzania have reached the final of the tournament for the first time in their history after defeating Egypt 4-3 on penalties following a goalless draw in the semi-finals. The achievement further highlights the rapid growth of youth football in the country, particularly after Tanzania's recent success in CAF African Schools Football competitions.

The Serengeti Boys have enjoyed an impressive campaign, displaying discipline, teamwork, and resilience throughout the tournament.

Senegal, meanwhile, secured their place in the final after overcoming hosts Morocco 7-6 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the semi-finals.

One of Senegal's key players has been goalkeeper and captain Assane Sarr, who has played a crucial role in the team's journey to the final. The 16-year-old shot-stopper has been a standout performer and an important leader in Senegal's defensive setup during the knockout stages.

A Proud Moment for East African Football

For Tanzania, victory tonight would mean winning the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations title for the very first time. For Senegal, a win would further strengthen their reputation as one of Africa's leading nations in youth football development.

Senegal enter the match as the defending champions, adding another layer of challenge for the Tanzanian youngsters.

Both teams have already secured qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar later this year. However, tonight's final represents more than qualification—it is a battle for continental glory and the chance to be crowned champions of Africa.

All eyes will be on Rabat as Serengeti Boys seek to make history and bring the U-17 African title home to Tanzania.
