Simba SC Still Interested in Signing Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali Amid Squad Changes

The Tanzanian club Simba SC is continuing to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2026/27 season and has not completely ruled out signing Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

Sources from inside the club indicate that the technical bench led by coach Steve Barker still believes Nwabali could improve competition and quality in the goalkeeping department for the Wekundu wa Msimbazi.

Simba previously showed interest in signing the goalkeeper during the mid-season transfer window, but talks collapsed due to high financial demands. However, the club is still monitoring his situation closely after he has remained without a team since leaving Chippa United in South Africa earlier this year.

The club’s need for goalkeeping reinforcements has increased due to contract situations involving several keepers. Djibrilla Kassali is expected to see his contract expire at the end of the season, and his future remains uncertain.

At the same time, goalkeeper Moussa Camara is reportedly close to leaving after attracting interest from a second-division club in France. Reports suggest he has already informed Simba management of his intention to seek a new challenge once his contract ends.

Another concern for Simba is the injury of goalkeeper Yacoub Suleiman, who recently underwent knee surgery and is expected to be out for a long period. This has forced the club to reassess its transfer plans ahead of the next window.

Nwabali has built a strong reputation in African football thanks to his shot-stopping ability, calmness under pressure, and skill in saving penalties. His standout performances were especially notable during AFCON 2023, where he played a key role for Nigeria.

The 29-year-old is also praised for his ability to start attacks from the back, a modern goalkeeping trait that makes him attractive to many coaches.

Since he is currently a free agent, Simba could revisit negotiations, although his salary demands and personal terms are still seen as major obstacles that could affect any potential deal.
