Germany Crush Curacao 7-1 to Set World Cup 2026 Scoring Record

Germany made a major statement at the 2026 FIFA World Cup by thrashing Curaçao 7-1 in their Group E match, setting the record for the highest-scoring performance of the tournament so far.

The emphatic victory also saw Germany reach 239 goals in World Cup history, surpassing Brazil's long-standing record and becoming the highest-scoring nation in the competition's history.

Germany started brightly, with Felix Nmecha opening the scoring in the sixth minute. However, Curaçao stunned many observers when Livano Comenencia equalized in the 21st minute. The goal was historic, marking Curaçao's first-ever goal at a FIFA World Cup finals tournament.

After conceding, the Germans quickly regained control and showcased their superior quality. Nico Schlotterbeck restored the lead in the 38th minute before Kai Havertz converted a penalty late in the first half to make it 3-1.

The second half was dominated by Germany. Jamal Musiala added a fourth goal in the 47th minute, while Nathaniel Brown, Deniz Undav, and Havertz, who completed his brace, rounded off a dominant display.

Kai Havertz was among the standout performers, scoring twice and leading Germany's attack with an impressive all-round performance.

Despite the heavy defeat, Curaçao can take pride in their historic participation at the World Cup. Comenencia's goal will remain a landmark moment for the Caribbean nation.

The result sends Germany to the top of Group E with a commanding goal difference and serves as a warning to the other teams competing for the 2026 World Cup title.

Germany will return to action on June 20 against Ivory Coast, while Curaçao will face Ecuador in another crucial Group E fixture.
