After the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, Simba SC management has moved quickly to build a squad capable of challenging for trophies next season, making major decisions involving both local and foreign players.
Simba Board of Directors Chairman Crescentius Magori has already emphasized that the club cannot afford to waste time, as they aim to complete their recruitment plans before the squad returns to camp for pre-season preparations.
Reports indicate that Simba are close to completing their domestic signings, with the club now focusing heavily on strengthening the foreign player department.
It is understood that between five and six foreign players could arrive at Msimbazi, while a similar number are expected to leave to create space for new additions.
Among the players expected to depart are goalkeepers Mohamed Kassali and Moussa Camara, who are reportedly not part of the club’s plans for next season. Simba are said to be working on signing a new foreign goalkeeper.
The midfield department is also expected to undergo changes, with Naby Camara and Alassane Kante among the players unlikely to be included in the squad for the new campaign.
In attack, Jonathan Sowah’s future had already been decided, while reports suggest that Mohamed Bajaber could be sent out on loan to gain more playing time.
Midfielder Neo Maema was also initially among the players expected to leave, but the situation appears to have changed. Reports indicate that head coach Steve Barker has been impressed by the midfielder’s performances and wants to retain him.
Maema’s loan spell with Simba has ended, while his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns has also expired. This gives Simba the opportunity to sign him as a free agent if both parties reach an agreement.
Speaking about his future, Maema said he has not yet entered formal contract negotiations but believes anything can happen in the coming days.
After enjoying a successful season in Simba’s red shirt, the midfielder has made it clear that he is open to continuing with the club if an agreement is reached between both sides.
