Young Africans SC (Yanga) have officially confirmed that club captain Bakari Mwamnyeto has signed a new two-year contract, keeping him at Jangwani until 2028. The agreement brings an end to speculation surrounding the defender's future after his previous deal expired.
Mwamnyeto agreed to extend his stay following successful negotiations between the club and his representatives. During the talks, the experienced centre-back had been linked with several clubs both in Tanzania and abroad before ultimately committing his future to the reigning Tanzanian champions.
Since joining Yanga from Coastal Union in 2020, Mwamnyeto has established himself as one of the club's most influential players. As captain, he has led Yanga to five consecutive Mainland Tanzania Premier League titles, four CRDB Federation Cup trophies, and memorable campaigns in CAF interclub competitions.
His contract extension is a major boost for Yanga as the club prepares for the 2026/27 season under head coach Manqoba Mngqithi. Supporters will be hoping their captain continues to provide leadership at the heart of the defence as the club targets further domestic success and a stronger challenge in African competition.
