The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has confirmed that the Video Support (VS) system will be used for the first time in Tanzania during the Community Shield clash between Yanga and Simba SC.
The match is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar, with the introduction of the system expected to provide referees with additional assistance when making key decisions during the match.
According to TFF, the use of VS in the fixture marks the beginning of the implementation of the technology in Tanzanian football.
The system will allow referees to review important match incidents using video, with the aim of improving the accuracy of decisions and reducing errors that could affect the outcome of a match.
Following its debut in the Community Shield, the system is also expected to be used in a large proportion of Tanzania Mainland Premier League matches.
Reports indicate that the system will be used in 75 per cent of Premier League matches, marking the beginning of wider use of technology in the administration of football matches in Tanzania.
