Yanga SC head coach Manqoba Mngqithi says he believes his team can secure a positive result against Namungo FC in their opening match of the 2026/27 Tanzania Mainland Premier League season.
Yanga will begin their title defence against Namungo tomorrow, August 15, 2026, at Majaliwa Stadium in Lindi, with Mngqithi acknowledging that his team has had limited time to prepare for the fixture.
According to Mngqithi, the short preparation period is a result of the close scheduling of the match with the Community Shield clash against Simba SC, which was recently played in Zanzibar.
However, the coach said the preparations they have conducted since that match will help the team get ready and enter the league opener with a clear game plan.
Mngqithi also stressed that Yanga will continue using the playing system displayed against Simba, believing that maintaining the same approach could help them achieve the desired result against Namungo.
The match will mark the beginning of Yanga's campaign to defend their Tanzania Mainland Premier League title, while Namungo will be looking to start the new season with a positive result against the defending champions.
