Yanga SC Head of Information and Communications Ali Kamwe has clarified the situations surrounding defender Abdulnasir Mohamed ‘Gamal’ and midfielder Mohamed Damaro, both of whom have joined Singida Black Stars despite initially being seen as part of the Yanga squad.
Kamwe confirmed that Gamal has joined Singida Black Stars on loan after training with the Yanga squad during preparations for the new season.
According to Kamwe, strong competition within the Yanga squad was the main reason the technical bench recommended sending the player out on loan to get sufficient playing time.
“Gamal trained with the team during pre-season. Because of his quality, the coach recommended that he get more playing time. He advised the management to find him a team where he could play regularly so that the coach could continue monitoring him. That is why Gamal has joined Singida Black Stars on loan,” Kamwe said.
Kamwe said the decision is part of Yanga's plan to ensure talented players who are not getting regular playing opportunities gain competitive experience at other clubs, while the club continues to monitor their progress.
Kamwe also explained the situation involving Mohamed Damaro, who had been playing for Yanga on loan from Singida Black Stars.
He said Damaro returned to Singida after the club, which owns the player, requested his services again while the transfer window was still open.
“Damaro joined Yanga on loan. Up until Mwananchi Day, his loan registration was still with Yanga, but later Singida, who own the player, told us they needed him back. We agreed because the transfer window was still open,” Kamwe explained.
As a result, while Gamal has moved to Singida Black Stars on loan from Yanga, Damaro has made the journey in the opposite direction, returning to Singida after his loan spell at Yanga came to an end.
