TPLB Reschedules Simba and Yanga Fixtures, Confirms League Finish Date Unchanged

The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has made changes to the 2026/27 NBC Premier League schedule, affecting several fixtures involving giants Simba and Yanga, while stressing that the changes will not alter the league’s final date.

The changes were made after the Board reviewed and assessed the international competition schedules facing the two clubs, alongside operational requirements aimed at ensuring the Premier League continues without fixture clashes.

According to the revised schedule, Yanga’s match against Geita Gold, which was originally scheduled for September 8, 2026, will now be played on September 15, 2026.

The decision was made to give Yanga sufficient time to prepare and recover due to their commitments in international competitions.

Yanga will face Botswana’s Gaborone United in the CAF Champions League, playing the first leg away on September 5, 2026, before meeting the same opponents again in the return leg on September 12, 2026.

Simba SC have also been affected by the changes.

The Simba vs Azam FC fixture, which was originally scheduled for September 9, 2026, will now be played on September 16, 2026.

The changes are intended to give Simba room to fulfill their international commitments without having to play league matches during a crucial period of their African campaign.

Simba are expected to play their first-leg away fixture against Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers on September 6, 2026, before hosting the return leg on September 13, 2026.

TPLB OFFERS ASSURANCE

Despite the changes, the TPLB has made it clear that the revised schedule will not affect the overall season plan, particularly the date on which the NBC Premier League will conclude.

The Board said the changes were made in consideration of the broader competition calendar, while ensuring that the postponed fixtures are allocated new dates within the league schedule without disrupting the conclusion of the season.
