Simba SC, the Reds of Msimbazi, continued their impressive start to the season after defeating Azam FC 2-0 at Azam Complex in Chamazi.
The victory means Simba have maintained their 100 percent record this season, making it six consecutive wins without a defeat or draw. Simba have now collected 18 points from six matches.
Under the technical bench led by head coach Steve Barker, the Reds of Msimbazi have continued to display good form, playing with discipline and showing their determination to restore their dominance in domestic football.
Azam FC, meanwhile, failed to make the most of their opportunities, while Simba were stronger defensively and more dangerous on the counterattack.
Idumba, Chama Decide the Match
The match was highly competitive in the first half, with both teams sizing each other up and looking for openings to break the deadlock.
However, the game changed in the second half when Simba took the lead through an own goal by Azam FC defender Nathaniel Idumba Fasika.
Idumba accidentally turned the ball into his own net while attempting to clear the danger created by Rushine de Reuck’s header, handing Simba the opening goal.
Azam FC tried to get back into the match after falling behind, but Simba remained a threat through quick counterattacks.
Zambia international midfielder Clatous Chama scored the second goal to give Simba greater control of the match. Chama finished off a quick counterattack by the Reds of Msimbazi, ending the hosts’ hopes of mounting a comeback.
Simba finished the match with a 2-0 lead, while their defence worked hard to ensure Azam FC had no opportunity to get back into the game.
The result gives Simba three valuable points and extends their strong start to the season, as the battle at the top of the standings continues to intensify.
