TPLB Takes Disciplinary Action Against Yanga, Azam, Match Officials and Championship Clubs

The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) Competition Management and Administration Committee has taken various disciplinary measures after reviewing incidents that occurred during league matches across the country.

The committee, which met on September 18, 2026, made decisions affecting clubs, officials, supporters and referees, with some of the offences involving fan discipline, compliance with match schedules and procedures for entering the stadium.

Yanga SC Fined TSh 5 Million

Young Africans SC (Yanga) have been fined TSh 5 million after their supporters were involved in an incident in which bottles were thrown towards the Geita Gold technical bench.

The incident occurred during a match in which Yanga secured a 1-0 victory over Geita Gold. Oumar Komara scored the only goal of the match as Yanga continued their impressive start to the season.

According to the decisions issued, the fine was imposed under Regulation 48:1 of the Premier League Regulations concerning Club Control.

In addition to the fine, Yanga were issued a stern warning after violating the Match Countdown procedure. Three of the club’s players were alleged to have entered the pitch at 6:00 p.m. instead of the scheduled time of 6:10 p.m.

Eddie Evance Referred to Ethics Committee

In another development, Yanga Security and Safety Officer Eddie Evance has been referred to the TFF Ethics Committee.

The action is linked to allegations that he entered the pitch while still serving a six-month suspension imposed on him on June 8, 2026.

Azam FC Also Issued Stern Warning

In another match involving Azam FC and Simba SC, which Simba won 2-0, Azam FC were issued a stern warning for violating the Match Countdown procedure.

Azam players were alleged to have started their warm-up at 6:07 p.m. instead of the scheduled time of 6:10 p.m.

Simba won the match with two second-half goals to move to 18 points after six matches, remaining behind Yanga on goal difference.

Masoud Fupe Faces Disciplinary Action

In addition to the warning issued to the club, Azam FC Security and Safety Officer Masoud Fupe has been referred to the TFF Ethics Committee.

According to the decision, Fupe was involved in disrupting the procedure for entering the stadium by allowing officials and some members of the technical bench to enter through an unofficial entrance.

Those mentioned include Head Coach Frolent Ibege, Assistant Coach Anicet Makiadi and player Himid Mao.

Two Referees Removed from List for Three Rounds

On the refereeing front, the TPLB has taken action against officials involved in the Kagera Sugar versus Fountain Gate match.

Referee Hassan Mhina and assistant referee number one Soud Hussein have been removed from the list of match officials for three rounds.

The action was taken after the committee identified shortcomings in the officiating and interpretation of some of the Laws of the Game during the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Championship Clubs Also Face Disciplinary Measures

The TPLB’s decisions were not limited to the Premier League, as they also affected the Championship League.

Bigman FC were issued a stern warning after being represented by three delegates instead of the required five delegates who were supposed to attend the technical pre-match meeting.

Meanwhile, Songea United were fined TSh 5 million for failing to wear jerseys bearing the logo of the Championship League’s main sponsor, NBC.
