Zambia national team interim head coach George Lwandamina has expressed confidence that Young Africans SC midfielder Albert Kangwanda will perform even better in the upcoming Kariakoo Derby against Simba SC after gaining experience in the highly competitive fixture. Lwandamina believes the experience will help Kangwanda approach the match with greater composure and confidence.
Lwandamina said he was impressed by how Kangwanda began his journey at Yanga by scoring a goal in his first derby against Simba. In his view, that moment helped the midfielder overcome some of his nervousness and begin to understand the pressure that comes with facing the traditional rivals.
Kangwanda joined Yanga in July 2026 from Zambia’s Red Arrows, where he enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 season, scoring 17 goals and providing nine assists across all competitions. Lwandamina, who also works with Kangwanda in the Zambia national team, has urged him to keep working hard to maintain his form and strengthen his position at Yanga.
The next derby between Simba and Yanga is scheduled for October 10, 2026, at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam. Kangwanda will be among the players attracting close attention as he looks to continue his impressive form in another high-pressure encounter for both sides.
