Madagascar club CFFA is reportedly seeking permission to use Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam for its home fixture against Yanga SC in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round, which will determine qualification for the group stage.
The move could see Yanga play both legs of the tie in Tanzania, potentially providing a significant advantage for the Wananchi as they pursue a place in the group stage of the competition.
According to reports, CFFA has been forced to look for an alternative venue because no stadium in Madagascar has been approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for use in the competition.
The club is said to have already submitted Azam Complex to CAF as its proposed home venue for the first leg against Yanga.
Yanga Could Play Both Matches at Home
According to the schedule, the first leg between CFFA and Yanga is expected to take place on October 17, with the return leg scheduled for October 24 at Azam Complex.
If CAF approves CFFA’s request, Yanga would have the opportunity to play both matches at the same venue, which the Tanzanian club also uses for its continental campaigns.
This arrangement could benefit Yanga by reducing the challenges associated with international travel and allowing the team to play both matches in familiar surroundings.
