It was only a matter of time! Simba SC roared to a 2-1 victory over their arch-rivals Yanga SC at Uhuru Stadium in a fiercely contested NBC Premier League derby, sending a strong message that the Reds of Msimbazi are back with a bang.
It was a day of joy, celebrations and pride for Simba fans, who watched their team produce quality football, confidence and a fighting spirit right until the final whistle. Simba did not just win this derby; they did so in style, giving their supporters every reason to walk with their heads held high!
Yanga make a flying start as Simba stand firm
The match began at a furious pace, with Yanga taking an early lead in just the fifth minute through Peter Shalulile. The goal gave Wananchi hope of securing victory, but they had yet to discover that the Reds of Msimbazi had answers of their own.
Despite being stunned early on, Simba neither lost their composure nor abandoned their game plan. Instead, they began to settle on the ball, build their attacks and gradually take control of the match.
By half-time, Simba had demonstrated their quality by enjoying 66 per cent possession, making it clear they were not prepared to accept the early setback. Yanga found themselves spending much of the time defending as Simba continued searching for a way back into the contest.
Simba came out for the second half with greater intensity and continued to press forward. Their efforts paid off in the 67th minute when Neo Maema scored the equaliser after receiving a fine pass from Libasse Gueye.
The stadium erupted in celebration! Simba fans finally got the moment they had been waiting for, and hopes of victory quickly began to rise.
The goal was more than just an equaliser; it was a sign that Simba were determined to finish the match as winners. And anyone who thought the Reds of Msimbazi would settle for a draw clearly had no idea what was unfolding on the pitch!
Just four minutes after Maema's goal, Simba struck again. This time, Elie Mpanzu stepped up to make his mark on the derby, scoring a superb second goal.

Mpanzu bewildered Yanga's defenders with a series of impressive dribbles, left goalkeeper Djigui Diarra with no answer and calmly sent the ball into the net.
It was a goal built on skill, courage and confidence, sending the Simba bench and supporters into wild celebrations.
In just four minutes, Simba had turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead. That was the Reds of Msimbazi's message: derbies are not won with words, but through hard work on the pitch!
Simba win with quality football and style
This victory carries special significance for Simba fans. It is not just about collecting three points, but also about how the team played, how they fought back after conceding an early goal and how they took their chances to turn the game around.
Simba displayed composure, tactical discipline and attacking threat, while Yanga failed to protect the early advantage they had gained.
