The traditional rivalry between Simba SC and Yanga SC has continued off the pitch after Simba’s Head of Information and Communications, Ahmed Ally, playfully provoked Haji Manara by asking for his permission to return to Jangwani and perform another “ritual.”
His remarks have added more spice to the ongoing verbal exchanges between personalities associated with the two biggest football clubs in Tanzania.
Ahmed made the remarks as memories of the recent Kariakoo Derby, in which Simba secured a 2-1 victory over Yanga, continue to feature in conversations among fans of both teams.
His use of the phrase “kuchimba dawa,” loosely translated as performing a ritual, is part of the playful banter commonly exchanged between Simba and Yanga supporters and their associated figures.
In Tanzanian football, such remarks have become part of the rivalry that extends beyond the 90 minutes played on the pitch.
The latest statement was directed at Haji Manara, a prominent figure who has often been associated with the banter and public debates surrounding the Simba-Yanga rivalry.
Ahmed’s request has now raised the question of whether Manara will grant him the permission he is seeking or respond with his own verbal jab.
The rivalry between Simba and Yanga is not limited to match results and on-field battles.
It also continues through public statements, playful jabs and debates that keep supporters of both clubs engaged.
