Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp believes Barcelona are currently a better team than Real Madrid, as football fans turn their attention to the El Clásico showdown between the Spanish giants scheduled for Sunday, October 25.
Klopp, who says he has followed Spanish football closely for many years, is expected to be among those watching the historic encounter, which carries a rich history of rivalry, competition and prestige between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
He explained that his view of the two teams has evolved over time. In the past, he favoured Barcelona because he was not impressed by the behaviour of Pepe and some of Real Madrid’s defenders who played during that period.
“I used to favour Barcelona more because I did not like the way Pepe and some of Real Madrid’s other defenders played. These days, I support the better team, and given the current situation, that could be Barcelona,” Klopp said.
His comments have added to the debate ahead of El Clásico, a fixture whose outcome could have important implications for the La Liga title race.
