Tanzania will be represented by two teams, Simba SC and Yanga, in the CAF Champions League group stage, where 16 clubs will compete for the title of African club champions.
Simba and Yanga have secured qualification for this stage after impressive performances in their preliminary matches, and are now preparing to face some of Africa’s football giants in what is expected to be a highly competitive phase of the tournament.
Simba SC secured their place after defeating 15 de Agosto 3-0 in the second leg, played at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The victory saw Simba advance with a 9-1 aggregate score, following their 6-1 win in the first leg.
Meanwhile, Yanga eliminated CFFA with an 8-1 aggregate victory, winning 4-0 and 4-1 in the two qualifying matches.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has scheduled the group-stage draw for Wednesday, October 28, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt, starting at 2:00 p.m.
The group stage will feature the 16 qualified teams, divided into four groups of four. Each group is expected to deliver its own challenges as the clubs battle for places in the next round of the competition.
According to the released pot allocations, Simba and Yanga have both been placed in Pot 2, meaning they cannot be drawn into the same group if that arrangement is applied during the draw.
Other teams participating in this stage include Esperance de Tunis and RS Berkane, as well as Zamalek SC and Pyramids FC, all of whom have been placed in Pot 1. These clubs are expected to be among the major contenders in the race for the title.
