Former Yanga SC head coach Manqoba Mngqithi is reportedly set to receive US$60,000 in compensation, equivalent to approximately TSh 159 million, following the termination of his contract before its expiry. According to reports, the amount represents the three months of salary remaining under the terms of his contract.
Mngqithi was earning US$20,000 per month, estimated at around TSh 53 million. Including the three months of salary he had already received since joining Yanga in July 2026, together with the reported compensation, his total earnings for that period amount to approximately TSh 318 million. However, the exact compensation will depend on the contract terms and the final agreement between the two parties.
Yanga’s decision to part ways with Mngqithi was reportedly influenced by dissatisfaction with the team’s performance, particularly following a 2-1 defeat to Simba in the Kariakoo Derby and a subsequent 0-0 draw against TRA United on October 24, 2026. Those results increased pressure on the technical bench, with Yanga reportedly trailing Simba by five points.
During his time at Yanga, Mngqithi guided the team to the Community Shield title and qualification for the CAF Champions League group stage after an 8-1 aggregate victory over Madagascar’s CFFA. The record cited in the reports shows that he managed 13 matches, recording 10 wins, two draws and one defeat. Yanga are now focusing on finding a new head coach, with Fadlu Davids among the names reportedly linked to the position, although his appointment has not been officially confirmed.
