Yanga are reportedly close to completing the process of appointing a new head coach, with an official announcement expected at any time.
Yanga Communications and Media Manager Ali Kamwe has said the new coach could be in the stands at KMC Complex on Sunday when Yanga take on Kagera Sugar.
Three prominent names have been linked with the job left vacant by Manqoba Mngqithi.
Krunoslav Jurcic
The Croatian coach is reportedly holding talks with Yanga through his representatives. However, the biggest obstacle is said to be his salary demand, estimated at $60,000 per month (more than 160 million Tanzanian shillings), approximately three times what Manqoba was earning.
Yanga's leadership has set ambitious targets for the club's performance in the CAF Champions League this season. The group-stage draw was held in Egypt yesterday, with Yanga placed in a tough group alongside Club Africain, MC Alger and Zamalek.
Jurcic is an experienced coach who has already enjoyed significant success at club level in Africa, having guided Pyramids to their first-ever CAF Champions League title.
Fadlu Davids
The former Simba SC and Raja Casablanca coach is also among those reportedly considered for the position. Inside reports indicate that Fadlu came close to joining Yanga before Manqoba's arrival, but the move ultimately fell through due to a failure to reach an agreement on financial terms.
The coach remains without a club since parting ways with Morocco's Raja CA, whom he managed for much of last season before being removed from his position towards the end of the campaign after failing to win the Moroccan league title.
Sead Ramovic
Perhaps he is the coach Yanga fans would most love to see return to Jangwani, given the work he did during his brief spell with Wananchi in the 2024/25 season, before CR Belouizdad lured him away by paying a substantial fee to terminate his contract with Yanga.
Many believe Ramovic's style of football, known as 'Touch, Release and Let's Go to Their Goal', is the kind of approach that could bring success to Yanga.
Clearly, if securing Jurcic, who guided Pyramids to the 2024/25 CAF Champions League title, proves impossible, Wananchi would likely prefer Ramovic over Fadlu.
Yanga fans are eagerly waiting to learn the identity of their new coach, as there is no time left to waste. The coach needs to begin work as soon as possible to strengthen the squad ahead of the CAF Champions League group-stage action, which is set to begin towards the end of next month.
