Long-time Premier League referee Lee Mason will no longer be in the league after leaving the PGMOL refereeing board by mutual agreement
The 51-year-old referee's exit comes just days after his mistakes in Arsenal's 1-1 draw against Brentford.
Mason being the assistant referee for VAR, did not give guidance to check if Ivan Toney was offside and allowed the equalizing goal he scored
"We would like to thank Lee for his dedicated professional service and wish him the best for the future," the PGMOL statement said.
The draw against Brentford affected Arsenal as they now second in the league standings after being beaten 3-1 by Manchester City in the previous match
The departure of the referee will reduce the anger of Arsenal fans but Mason may continue to be blamed if Arsenal miss out on the title by a narrow margin this season
