Former Arsenal, Real Madrid and German national team midfielder Mezut Azi has announced his official retirement from professional football at the age of 34 on Wednesday.
Ozil has given an official statement to the media about his decision to leave professional football
"After careful consideration, I am announcing my immediate retirement from professional football. I have had the opportunity to be a professional football player for almost 17 years and now I feel this journey has come to an end" p>
"In recent weeks and months, I have faced the challenges of injuries, I think it is time to leave the big stage of football," Ozil said in his statement.
"It has been an amazing journey full of unforgettable moments and emotions. I want to thank my clubs - Schalke, Werder Bremen, Real Madrid, Arsenal FC, Fenerbahce, Basaksehir and the coaches who supported me, as well as my teammates who have become friends"< /em>

Ozil played 92 matches for Germany, won the World Cup with that nation in 2014. He played in clubs like Real Madrid and Arsenal, before moving to Fenerbahce. He finished his football in the Turkish club, Istanbul Basaksehir
