Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said he feared Christian Eriksen would miss the rest of the season after injuring his ankle in the FA Cup game against Reading in January
Eriksen returns to United's squad for Saturday's Premier League clash against Everton at Old Trafford
Ten Hag is happy the Danish midfielder is back ahead of schedule
However, he is still upset at how the injury was caused by a tackle from Andy Carroll
The former Liverpool and Newcastle striker was not shown a red card for the challenge, although he was later sent off after being shown two yellow cards
"It was not for nothing that I was angry about the fight," said Ten Hag.
"It was a very bad game and a bad injury. I thought we lost him for the whole season. He is ahead of schedule and we are very happy with that," he said
Ten Hag also confirmed that England defender Luke Shaw will miss the game after being injured and substituted in the first half of Wednesday's win over Brentford
Ten Hag did not confirm the injury but said he was confident Shaw would be back soon
