Yakubu has said that the improvements will be made in the playing areas, players' rooms and providing all the seats in the stadium
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) ordered the stadium to undergo improvements after an inspection held in May 2023
The stadium is expected to be used in the Africa Football League championship where the Simba club from Tanzania is one of the eight teams that will participate
Mkapa Stadium was officially launched in (2007), until it was completed it cost Tsh 137 Billion
