The veteran Italian goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon has retired from football. Buffon, 45, was serving Parma last season
The Italian started playing for the Parma club in 1995, where in 2001 he left the team and joined Juventus in Italy
In 2018 he left to join Paris Saint Germain, he stayed there for one season and in 2019 he returned to Juventus, after playing 17 matches, in front of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny in 2021 he joined Parma
The biggest success that Buffon has had in his football career is winning the World Cup in 2006 with Italy, after beating France on penalties
But he has also won the title of the famous Italian Premier League 'Seria A' 10 times, and won the best goalkeeper award 13 times
Buffon won the UEFA best goalkeeper award and the best player at the club level in 2002/2023
He has also won the award for the best goalkeeper in Europe in 2003, 2016, 2017. But also the best goalkeeper of the European Champions League in 2016/2017
With PSG, he has won the Ligue 1 championship in 2018/2019.
