Yanga head coach Miguel Gamondi has apologized to fans after failing to defend the Community Shield for the third season in a row
Yesterday Yanga lost the final game against Simba on penalty kicks after a scoreless draw within 90 minutes
Gamondi said they deserved to win the game because they played better than their opponents but they lacked focus in the end zone
"I apologize to the fans for losing this game on penalties, we deserved to win. In the first half we played well and created chances but we didn't use them. In the second half we were better, I don't remember if our opponents created any clear chances, we didn't win because we didn't score but we played very well"
"This is a lesson for us, we are going back to the training ground to work on those shortcomings but in general I am pleased with the way the players have played in all the minutes of the game," said Gamondi
In that game Yanga dominated every department, Jesus Moloko and Musonda scored goals but all were rejected because they were in the offside area
Yanga returns to prepare for the Champions League preliminary stage game against ASAS Fc which will be played next Sunday
