Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has played against many of the best players in the world in football, but only one name sticks in his head as the best player he has ever met.
In a career that spanned four decades and nearly 1,000 matches, Buffon represented Parma, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain
It is Buffon's 19 years at Juventus that are undoubtedly the most memorable, helping the old lady of Turin win ten scudettos
At Juventus, Buffon played alongside the likes of Alessandro Del Piero, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pavel Nedved and Giorgio Chiellini, all of whom made the game look easy
Buffon was lured to the French capital for the 2018/19 season and was joined by Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe for the season. The return to Juventus came in 2019 with Buffon teaming up with Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo
Buffon was also tasked with keeping out the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Lionel Messi and Ronaldo, to name three during Serie A and Champions League matches
However, when asked by Corriere della Sera which player was the best he played with or against, Buffon responded by saying:
"I played for three generations, how can I say that? Zidane, Ronaldo, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Iniesta. But if I have to choose one, I say Neymar. With the talent he had, he should have won five Ballons d'Or," he said Buffon
Buffon and Neymar shared the field just 13 times in the Italian's only season at PSG as he battled for the starting goalkeeper position for Alphonse Areola, who is now at West Ham United.
