Van Nistelrooy, brought in by Ten Hag as assistant manager in July, managed three wins and one draw and is rumored to be upset at his departure
"When I took the temporary job I said I am here to help United and I would like to stay to help United, and I meant it. So I was very disappointed, and it hurt that I had to leave, I wanted to stay and make a difference at my old club"
"But I am relieved to see that United is under a safe coach because I also understand the new manager. I spoke to Ruben about it, okay for him, the conversation was thankful, between the manager," he said
Van Nistelrooy led Leicester to a 3-1 win over West Ham United on Tuesday night, his first victory two days since joining the team
