Pogba brother jailed for three years

Mathias Pogba has been sentenced to three years in prison after the court found him guilty of conspiring to steal against his brother, Paul Pogba

Mathias Pogba was arrested and charged with a conspiracy to demand that he be paid 11 million pounds ($14m) by the former Juventus star at the end of 2022 after a kidnapping incident

Now, the Paris court has handed Pogba's brother a three-year prison sentence, with two years suspended

However, the 34-year-old will serve the remainder of his one-year sentence with an electronic bracelet, instead of jail time

Pogba, 31, previously told police that a group of childhood friends, including his older brother Mathias, asked for money for "protection services" - dating back 13 years

Pogba himself admitted that he considered retiring in 2023 during this fraud scheme but is now relieved following this decision

The Frenchman will be able to return to football in March 2025 after his four-year doping ban was reduced to 18 months earlier this year

He is currently a free agent after he and Juventus agreed to terminate his contract
