The government has announced the temporary closure of Benjamin Mkapa Stadium to allow for improvements to the pitch
The stadium was initially closed for renovations and reopened after CAF was satisfied with the improvements made, allowing Simba to use it in the game against Al Masry
However, the rain that fell seemed to have contributed to the poor condition of the stadium although it was also seen that water puddles were left in the playing area
Efforts were made to remove the water before the game started, however the continued rain while the game was going on contributed to the playing area being further damaged
Government Spokesperson Gerson Msigwa said the stadium was closed for a short time and will reopen after the improvements are completed
