Taoussi eye CAF CC ticket

Azam FC Head Coach, Rachid Taoussi, has said the team's poor results in recent Premier League matches are one of the reasons for quickly returning players to camp to prepare for the three closing matches of the season that will decide their CAF fate.

Azam, who were eliminated early in the African Champions League, which participated this season for the second time after playing in 2015, are not in the race for the Premier League title or the Confederation Cup (FA) where they were eliminated in the round of 32 by Mbeya City.

This has left the team with the only hope of securing a CAF ticket for next season by finishing in third place in the Premier League standings, competing with Singida Black Stars, which is putting pressure on coach Taoussi who said he has called the players early and spoken to them about doing everything possible to finish the remaining matches well.

Azam has drawn three matches against Dodoma, the city scheduled to be played in May 13, before facing Tabora United and Fountain Gate between June 18 and 22 to conclude the season, while also listening to the results of Singida who are in the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup (FA).

Speaking to Mwanasporti, Taoussi said they have not achieved a single goal this season in the competitions they participated in, so all that remains is to make good use of 270 minutes so that they can collect nine points that will allow them to continue to remain in third place, while praying for Singida who are behind them.
