Simba SC’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ali, has confirmed that after unsuccessful efforts to have the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final against RS Berkane played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, the club is now fully focused on preparing for the match, which will now take place at the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar on Sunday, May 25.
Speaking during a press conference held at Simba’s headquarters in Oysterbay, Dar es Salaam, Ahmed explained that the club had pushed for the match to be held in Dar to ease financial burdens on their fans, especially those traveling from upcountry regions.
"We have fans who have already bought tickets from far-off regions. Our assessment showed that they might need at least TSh 300,000 to travel to Zanzibar, attend the match, and return home," said Ahmed.
He also noted:
"The Benjamin Mkapa Stadium would have allowed more fans to witness this historic match, as it can hold up to 60,000 people.
But since our efforts to retain the venue have failed, we see no reason to continue complaining.
Our mission to win the CAF title remains intact, so we must begin preparations for the match against Berkane, which will be played on Sunday, May 25 at 4:00 PM at the New Amaan Complex."
Ahmed further announced that Simba’s squad will travel to Zanzibar on Wednesday to begin final preparations for the game.
He also shared that fans who had already purchased tickets for the match when it was scheduled for Benjamin Mkapa Stadium will use those tickets to attend Simba Day, the club’s annual festival to usher in the new 2025/26 season.
Additionally, new ticket prices for the final in Zanzibar have been announced:
VIP – TSh 50,000
Russia Stand – TSh 30,000
Regular (Mzunguko) – TSh 10,000
