The head coach of Singida Black Stars, Kenyan national David Ouma, has expressed his pride in the team securing a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup, calling it a major achievement for the technical bench, club management, and supporters alike.

Singida Black Stars earned the ticket to participate in the continental tournament after Yanga defeated JKT Tanzania 2-0 in the semifinals of the FA Cup. That result means Singida are now guaranteed to finish either third or fourth in the league this season.

Given that Tanzania has four slots for CAF competitions, the top two teams in the league qualify for the CAF Champions League, while the third-placed team and the FA Cup winner qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.

With Yanga and Simba having already secured the top two positions in the league and either of them likely to win the FA Cup, both will represent Tanzania in the Champions League. As a result, Azam FC and Singida Black Stars — currently sitting third and fourth — will play in the Confederation Cup.

Speaking on the matter, Ouma said one of their key goals this season was to finish in the top four and qualify for continental football, and they are proud to have achieved that objective.

"We’re very grateful for reaching this stage because this was our goal from the start of the season. We’re now focusing on the two tough matches ahead against Simba. I can confidently say our preparations are going well so far," he said.

Ouma confirmed that all players have returned to camp following a four-day break, and the team is now preparing for back-to-back matches against Simba — a Premier League clash scheduled for May 28, 2025, and the FA Cup semifinal on May 31, 2025.

Ouma took over as head coach of Singida Black Stars on February 4, 2025, after former head coach Miloud Hamdi, who was appointed on December 30, 2024, left the club to join Yanga, where he continues to serve as head coach.

Since taking charge, Ouma has led the team — currently in fourth place with 53 points — in 11 Premier League matches, recording six wins, two draws, and three losses.
