The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has given a special gift to Simba Sports Club by covering the costs for the use of the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Unguja, which will be used for the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final match, scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 25, 2025, starting at 4:00 PM.
This was announced in a public statement released by the Deputy Director of Communications at the State House in Zanzibar, stating that President Mwinyi’s decision is intended to demonstrate his deep love for sports and to encourage victory for Simba in this historic match against RS Berkane of Morocco.
The statement added that this move is also part of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar’s efforts to support the development of sports and to elevate the country's international reputation.
In addition to granting free use of the stadium, President Mwinyi has taken responsibility for funding all the necessary preparations of the stadium for the match. Moreover, the final is expected to be attended by thousands of fans from within and outside the country.
Recognizing the importance of this match for the nation, President Mwinyi has pledged to attend the final alongside all Tanzanians in support of Simba and to help inspire a historic victory.
Simba reached the final of the CAF competition by defeating Stellenbosch 1-0 and lost the first leg of the final away in Berkane, Morocco, by 2-0. On Sunday, they face the challenge of winning by at least 3-0 in order to lift the trophy for the first time.
