Yanga insist not playing Kariakoo Derby

Yanga has maintained its stance of not playing match number 184 of the NBC Premier League against Simba until their complaints are addressed by the relevant football authorities in the country.

According to the schedule released by the Tanzanian football champions, only three matches remain to conclude the season:

  • June 18 against Tanzania Prisons (Premier League),

  • June 22 against Dodoma Jiji (Premier League), and

  • the final match is the CRDB Cup final against Singida Black Stars.

In another development, Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, confirmed that the team has received invitations to play friendly matches in Rwanda and Kenya.

“It’s true we have two invitations from Rwanda and Kenya. Rayon Sports have invited us to play a friendly match with them, and Gor Mahia has also invited us to Kenya,”

“The management is assessing the invitations and will inform our fans where we will go. If it’s Rwanda, we will also organize travel arrangements for our fans,”

“In Rwanda, we have a history. I think many of you remember what we did two years ago when we went to play against Al Merrikh,” said Kamwe.
