Football fans in Tanzania, and especially in Zanzibar, are expected to witness an exciting final of the CRDB Cup between defending champions Yanga SC and Singida Black Stars. This decisive match for this season’s championship is scheduled to be played on June 28 at the modern New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar.
This marks the second consecutive time that the final will be played at the New Amaan Complex, a move that continues to elevate the popularity of football on the islands and showcases Zanzibar’s growing status as a key hub for major sports events in the country.
Last season, Yanga clinched the title at the same Amaan stadium after a 6-5 win on penalties against Azam FC, following a goalless draw in regular and extra time. That was Yanga's third consecutive title, and they now seek to win it for the fourth season in a row.
Originally, last year's final was scheduled to be played at Tanzanite Kwaraa Stadium in Manyara, but due to the venue not being ready, the match was officially moved to Zanzibar.
Singida Black Stars reached the final for the first time after eliminating Simba with a 3-1 win in the semifinals, while Yanga booked their spot with a 2-0 victory over JKT Tanzania.
Undoubtedly, this will be a unique final. The last time Yanga and Singida Black Stars met in Zanzibar was during a Premier League match, where Yanga secured a 1-0 win in a tightly contested encounter.
