Silence continues to dominate within Simba SC’s camp as the 2024/2025 Tanzania Premier League season approaches its conclusion.
Although the club appears to be complying with decisions made by football authorities, it is evident that the Msimbazi Reds’ leadership is dissatisfied with the rescheduling of their match against Yanga—the Kariakoo Derby—which is now set to be played on June 25 instead of June 15.
Unlike Simba’s usual behavior, there have been no public updates on the team’s preparations for the upcoming fixtures. Even the club’s social media pages seem to have gone on a break, with fewer than three posts published since the announcement to postpone match number 184.
After a two-day break, Simba’s squad quietly returned to training in preparation for their next match against KenGold FC, scheduled for June 18 at the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora.
There is a strong likelihood that the team will depart from Dar es Salaam early Tuesday to head to Tabora for the fixture. However, uncertainty continues to loom—not just on Simba’s side but also for their opponents.
KenGold, who have already been relegated, have yet to arrive in Tabora for match preparations. As of yesterday, reports from within the team indicated that players were still waiting for transport fare while remaining at their respective homes. They were expected to begin arriving in Tabora today, just two days before the match.
For Simba, this match is crucial. A win against KenGold would give them vital points in the title race. Mathematically, Simba could still win the championship if they secure victory in all three of their remaining matches.
What Does Simba’s Silence Mean?
Some football analysts suggest that Simba’s silence is a calculated strategy—a way to reduce pressure on players and focus quietly on preparing for the derby, which could ultimately determine the league champion.
Others interpret it as a silence of disappointment, signaling the club’s dissatisfaction with the League Board’s decision to push match number 184 forward.
